VeerSurvivors.com Organizes “Run for the Brave” Fundraiser Marathon in Delhi to Support Martyr Families

VeerSurvivors.com, India’s leading crowdfunding platform for armed forces families, recently hosted its first major public event — the “Run for the Brave” fundraising marathon — on May 12th at India Gate, Delhi. With the morning sun rising over the historic monument, more than 2,000 citizens gathered to run, walk, and stand in solidarity with the families of India’s fallen heroes.

The event was not just a physical challenge — it was an emotional one too. Families of martyrs, disabled veterans, students, professionals, and senior citizens joined together in a 5 km and 10 km marathon to raise funds and awareness for ongoing VeerSurvivors campaigns.

“Every step we take today is for someone who walked into danger so we could walk in peace,” said Ritika Bhandari, a volunteer and first-time participant.

Highlights of the Event:

• ₹22 lakhs raised through offline and online donations linked to the event
• Participation from 15 educational institutions and 30 corporate teams
• Live sharing of stories from Veer Naris and veterans
• Cultural performances by NCC cadets and military school students
• A tribute wall where runners wrote messages for martyrs’ families

The funds raised are being directly distributed to five live campaigns, including:

• Educational support for three martyr’s children
• Rehabilitation for a disabled soldier from Assam
• Livelihood setup for a Veer Nari in Maharashtra

Community Spirit in Action

“Run for the Brave” was a true people’s movement. Volunteers helped coordinate medical tents, hydration booths, and awareness counters, while social media influencers amplified the event online with the hashtag #RunForTheBrave, which trended nationally on X (formerly Twitter).

Local businesses, including cafes, gyms, and running clubs, supported the cause by offering discounts to registered participants, showing how easily community networks can contribute to meaningful national causes.

A Growing Movement

This marathon is just the beginning of VeerSurvivors’ on-ground engagement plans. The team has announced similar drives in Bengaluru, Pune, and Chandigarh over the next six months, aiming to involve even more citizens in the mission.

“It’s about building a movement of gratitude,” said Rahul Mehta, co-founder of VeerSurvivors.com. “We want to bring every Indian one step closer to the families who’ve given us everything.”
